Does the United States have the fastest fighter aircraft?

The United States of America does not have the fastest fighter aircraft but it does not necessarily mean it does not have the most advanced aircraft compared to other countries. The fastest fighter jet is the Russian MiG-25 clocked at mach 3. 2. Most information about fighter jets are classified so it is hard to compare how "advanced" a jet is.

It's not possible to know who has the fastest fighter aircraft because most countries, including the US, don't release information about new hi-tech fighter aircraft in case they have to use them in a wartime situation.
