Does the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act require the validation of a collections account within the first 30 days?

No, it does not require the individual to validate the collections account. However, the collector must validate the debt if requested by the individual they are demanding to pay it.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires the collection agency to provide the contact information of the original creditor within 30 days of receiving a written request from the consumer.

The only thing that is required by the first 30 days is a letter BY YOU if you think that the debt is not yours. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act basically just covers what the Debt Collectors are not allowed to say and do to you. They're not allowed to harass you or call you really early or late.
