Yes they do. Members of all branches of the military wear ID tags in order to identify them if necessary. These tags carry information about their blood type, religion, and medical allergies.

Coasties wear dog tags that include full name, 9-digit SS number (no dashes) and service branch, e.g. 123456789uscg. Religion and blood type are included. If the tags are not worn as part of the uniform, they are always in the possession of the individual.

Coast Guard enlistees are issued dogtags. They are not required to wear them routinely, but they are required to wear them if they are assigned to an expeditionary warfare unit. Most former Coast Guard will tell you that their dogtags hung in their lockers the whole tour of duty.

All service branches issue dog tags standard, including the cost guard reserve. Dog Tags are issued for more than one reasons the primary is an alternate form of ID and the secondary is if in the event you die during your active service. Contact a recruiter for more detailed information.
