Does Papermate still make erasable pens?

Why aren't they popular anymore?

Papermate still makes erasable pens, and probably an improved version at that, as a company has to roll with the times. I think they are less popular because the eraser left smeared ink stains and we live in a hi-tech era, in which most everything now is typed or printed.

Papermate's erasable pens are called "Erasermate." They are popular with school-age children. In fact, some schools require them. With adults, the pens are less popular because of security issues. For example, the "Pay To" line of a paper check could be erased and rewritten.

Yes Papermate (and Pilot, too) makes erasable pens. They lost popularity because the ink is likely to smear. Also, they could be mistakenly used for writing checks, with the risk of forgery, because the amount could be changed relatively easily in the first 24 hours, before the ink had fully hardened.

No, these were a huge failure because they destroyed the paper underneath the pen. You might be able to find some leftover packs in stores though.
