It depends on several factors, mainly the quality of the fake brick. In a dimly lit room, most fake brick looks just like the real thing.

It depends on what kind of faux brick you choose. There are many options available that are made of cement and fiber board that look just like brick. The difference between them and real brick is that the faux brick is less than an inch thick and easy to apply.

As a general rule, faux brick often looks real from a distance, but upon closer inspection, one can see that it is fake. However, very expensive faux bricks - done by very talented artists - can even fool some people up close.

Faux brick sometimes has a realistic appearance. I have a grill with brick sheets that look very real but some poor quality or older faux brick look very fake. many bricks on movie sets are fake as well but look very real.
