You can be given quantitative hCG test which will test your level of hCG in your blood. In a normal pregnancy during the first few weeks, every two days these levels will double. One explanation of lower levels can be ectopic pregnancy. If this is expected your OBGYN will then order a ultrasound to further examine the possibilities.

Extremely high levels of HCG, the hormone that is to detect pregnancy, can indicate an ectopic pregnancy. Testing for HCG levels is a simple blood test. If HCG levels are extremly high, then a doctor may follow up with an ultrasound to confirm.

Yes, an ectopic pregnancy, like any other pregnancy would produce the HCG hormone resulting in a positive pregnancy test. A subsequent blood test would result in your numbers not doubling or declining indicating a problem. To confirm an ectopic pregnancy you would need an ultrasound. At which time your pregnancy would be terminated and hopefully your tubes saved.

Yes, it will. You may notice it earlier than a normal pregnancy since it causes severe pain in the abdomen area.
