Does an air pump keep an aquarium cleaner?

I found one specifically for beta fish.

The point of an air pump is to make sure there is enough oxygen in the water so the fish can survive. Since most tanks are airated with a filtration system it keeps the tank cleaner. If nothing else an air pump keeps the water moving and cuts down scum.

not really, i mean it kind of does. an air pump basically pumps more air into the water of the aquarium. therefore the fish can breathe easier. but you dont want it to be too aerated. there is also a way to use an air pump as the only filtration choice. look it up w/an expert is my advice :D

Yes an No, and air stone should be added to tubing attached to the pump. This will add aeration to the tank providing more oxygenated water. More oxygen = healthier.
