Servers do indeed need to file income taxes. If your income is low, you will likely get a refund and maintain your eligibility for any stimulus money.

Yes. Anyone that makes over a stipulated amount of money, which I am assuming that the waitress made more than $2,000. 00 annually must file income taxes. In addition to filing on wages paid by the employer, tips are also included.

If you have reported all tips, you need to file if your income exceeds $9,350 (single). If you have not reported all tips, you must file a tax return.

Yes, anyone who earns income, from whatever source derived, must file taxes. Additionally, waitresses should know that income includes tips, and should be declared when filing.
