No, it does not. However, you may find it useful to have a hood on your aquarium. A hood can provide light or keep things from accidentally falling in.

A fish tank doesn't have to have a lid on it but if you don't add an aquarium lid, then the water will evaporate at a faster rate. More toxins will settle in the water (incense, hair spray, chemicals, etc. ) You can cover your tank with a thin piece of plastic but keep one side uncovered to allow air in.

No, but fish tanks can vary greatly based on type of fish. Some fish, such as goldfish could jump from the water. Also, without one, dust can get in easier.

Not always, just depends what kind of fish you get and if they are prone to jumping out. We have a 125 gallon saltwater tank and we do not cover the tank.

Depending on the inhabitants of the tank it may or may not need one. Some fish like to jump in which case the tank would need a top. To be on the safe side a top should be placed on the tank to prevent any accidents.

Yes, without a top the fish can jump out. You can also get a top with a light in it that helps you view the fish. There are different types of bulbs that can be beneficial to fish and plants.

a fish tank does not need to have a top on it, the top just makes your house smell better and the top makes it have less noise
