Does a curling iron harm your hair?

My hair tends to be brittle, so I am concerned.

To curl with a curling iron, you heat the hair to unnatural levels to keep the curl. While occasional curling for normal hair won't do too much, on brittle hair, it will definitely be a concern and higher likelihood it will cause damage and hair breakage.

Yes a curling iron can harm your hair, because what curling your hair does is it burns your hair into the shape of a curl. Even though it can harm your hair you can do things to help it be less brittle by putting a before or aftercare product in.

Yes it can, but if you spray your hair with a heat protector it won't happen nearly as easily. Also, don't heat your curling iron up too high so it won't burn your hair. You may also need to cut off all the dead ends or wait for the damaged hair to grow out before you use a curling iron.

ONLY if you aren't using something on your hair before curling it. Always make sure there is a barrier between your hair and heat (Curling iron/blow dryer/flat iron)

Curling irons harm hair because of excessive heat. Higher heat is required for thicker hairs. If you leave the heat low, your thin hairs should not be harmed.
