Do you get scared whenever you see a bat? Please explain your answer!

i was in a crowd of people, and a bat flew overhead... some people really freaked out, but i don't think they would have the same reaction if it was just some bird. seems that bats have some strange effect on people.

There really isn't anything to be scared of. They are generally not dangerous. I think that some people get worked up about bats because of how they are portrayed in the movies (and they are pretty ugly when you look at them up close).

I don't get scared when I see a bat..long as I am outside. I did have a family bats that moved into my chimney..and you can safely bet, I was not happy. We had to call a chimney sweeper to come remove them! I can assure you, they smelled bad.

I often find birds and bats startling, but I wouldn't say I'm afraid of them. Perhaps people are frightened by bats because 1) they never see them up close and 2) they are associated in myth with vampires and blood sucking.

actually, i think its exactly the opposite to your #1. from far away, there really isnt anything to be scared of... but when you see a bat up close, they arent the cutest of creatures. i think people would be more scared if they could see what they look like.  add a comment

No, bats do not scare me at all. In fact, it's almost the opposite, I think they are quite cool (and beneficial as they eat a LOT of insects) and will pause and spend time watching them if I can.
