I've found lost of shark teeth but no whale teeth.

Whale teeth are not commonly found on shores. They are also much more valuable and were once used for barter. They are also typically heavier, and will not move as easily in water as shark teeth.

Well the reason is that sharks lose a lot of teeth over their lifetime. Unlike sharks whales don't have as many teeth and rarely if ever lose them.
