Do some cell phones/services provide return receipt for text messages?

Is it possible to be notified when a person has opened your text message?

No. No cell phone carriers let you know when the person has actually opened your message. Although some carriers such as verizon do have a recieved service. You can't tell when they opened it but you can tell when their cell phone actually recieved it. This only lets you know their phone is on and in its sevice area.

I don't think so. It is possible with emails but not with text messages. You can configure your phone settings though to notify you if your message has been delivered. It would be nice if my phone has that kind of feature too so the recipient won't lie to me if she reads my message or not.

No, they do not provide receipts for that. It would be an invasion of privacy otherwise. So legally, companies can not do this.

Definitely, all service providers process delivery reports to end users for every sent text messages. Delivery report option must be enabled. Possible to notify when we know previous text message.

Yes. It was allways this function. I rememver even when I had Nokia 3310. But some times it depends on service provider, not only your phone. Dont forget, this function is not free.

No, cell phones and or cell phone service providers do not provide return receipt for text messages due to the fact that it will wasted too much paper.
