Yes. Parakeets get most of their fluids from the food they eat, particularly fruit, but they do need some fresh water. Replace the water daily. Parakeets will also use the water for grooming.

Fresh water should be in supply daily, although healthy parakeets don't drink much. Laying females drink more water naturally. Huge increases in water can indicate a kidney problem or other.

Watch out for covered dishes, these keep the droppings out but some birds are afraid and refuse to drink from them.
