Depending on what type of insurance dictates if a test for nicotine will be required. Some life insurance companies will require a test for nicotine. I believe they will do a mouth swab to check for nicotine particles. Not all life insurance companies check for nicotine they just make ask in a questionaire if you smoke.

Yes, your insurance physical will test you for nicotine. It is important that you be truthful about smoking as no claim would be paid if you lied about this on your application and a claim were to be put in. Most companies will allow you to be retested a year after you quit for a better rate.

If you are a smoker then you shouldn't wait for them to ask. Give the insurer the information at the time of application, or you will risk recission of your policy for material misrepresentation at a time when a claim is made.

Yes, most physicals for insurance companies do test for nicotine. They do it because smoking can have a large impact on your life and cause them possible liability. They can test for nicotine through urine, saliva, and blood.

Most insurers test for nicotine to determine if you smoke. Your only defense is saying it is showing the result of gum or patches as you try to quit.

Yes, when you do a general blood work panel at your physician, it will show unless it has been more than six months since you last smoked or chewed tobacco but is not limited to cigars, pipe or filtrated cigarettes. It will also show up in urine for a period of time as well.

Insurance physicals do test for nicotine along with other basic medical conditions, and if you do not disclose it on your application, you may find yourself under investigation later.
