Human eyes reach full size maturity at a very young age. Eye shape and iris color should remain constant in a healthy eye for the duration of the patients life.

The normal axial length (which refers to the diameter) of a newborn's eyeball is about 18 millimeters while that of an adult is about 1 inch. Also, the socket in which the eyeball is placed gradually grows. This happens till the person reaches adulthood stage.
