Do clams make pearls too?

Absolutely correct! Clams are a mollusk just like Oysters. Anything in that phylum can produce a pearl. Although Clams are not regularly known for producing pearls they sometimes do so. Clams are from the genus Pinctada while the Oyster is from the genus Bivavlia.

Clams do make pearls but it's oysters that make the most prettiest pearls. Most pearls on today's market are cultured which means a gain a sand was purposely place in the oyster to make a pearl. The clam makes some pearls I believe those are called freshwater pearls and the is difference in shape, size and color between the two.
