Asthma isn't actually a condition found in dogs; however, some dogs, especially the smaller breeds, can make wheezing noises that sound similar to human asthma when they are excited or anxious.

The chances of a Small Breed Dog getting a breathing related issue is rather high. Their airways and lungs are smaller than the average dog and they often have things happen like Asthma, Reverse Sneezing or Collapsing Trachea.

Usually the smaller the dog, the more apt they are to develop lung problems, not only becasue of there size but because of the environment they are in. Most smaller dogs are inside 85 percent of the time. A household with a smoker can be very bad for smaller dogs.
