Do cartilage earrings hurt?

They look pretty painful.

Since cartilage is thicker than the skin on an ear lobe, it does take longer to heal. This piercing can be quite painful since it is in an area that is easily caught on brushes or comes while one is styling his/her hair. I believe the healing time is quite painful.

Cartilage piercings tend to take longer to heal than regular earlobe piercings so the pain tends to remain longer. Cartilage is rigid, so the initial pain tends to be a bit worse due to the extra effort needed to make the piercing. Once healed properly, no further pain will be felt.

I won't hurt you unless it is done through 10 or 14 carat gold hoop. However, it entirely depends on the individual case; some get slight pain or little bad.
