You know how sometimes you see things floating in your vision, just off to the side? You can't look directly at them? Those spots or dots or strings can be called eye cobwebs. Since your eyes are mostly fluid, anything that gets in there--protein particles or other things like that--will just float in your vision.

When you look at a white wall and move your sight from one point to another you may notice that something seems to be floating on your eye. Usually floaters and cobwebs appear with age. If they are too numerous or annoying an operation may be needed, but this is always decided by an ophthalmologist.

Your eyes can't REALLY get cobwebs, but sometimes people call them that. Eye "cobwebs" occur when a sort of "gunk" forms in your eye due to something getting in it or recently sleeping. Some people call them "sleepers" as well.

Cobwebs is a colloquialism for the effects of glaucoma. A person suffering from glaucoma will have damage to their optic veins and arteries, and will be able to see these veins in their vision, which can look like spider webs.
