Can you walk on a broken tibia?

I was kicked in the shin by a horse.

No, if it was broken you wouldn't be able to tolerate the pain. If you can walk it could be fractured or sprained. If it hurts that bad you should go to a doctor.

To bear normal weight, tibia must heal in good position. The healing time of the tibia can be long and difficult. Usually for tibia, prompt orthopedic consultation and long course of sincere treatment is compulsory. Lest, permanent disability results. hence on broken tibia you should not walk until orthopedic recommendation.

The tibia is the weight bearing bone in your calf, so no you should not try and walk on it. That being said if it is a simple fracture (meaning the bones didn't shift when broken) you may be capable of walking on it with minimal pain.
