The 1966 has fairly simple steering. It is a manual system which means there is not a power steering pump. If you are having problems most likely it is the linkage between the wheel and the front axle. Once the car is jacked up you will be able to look them over for the issue, they might just need oil.

Yes but please let us know what they are. Most likely any issues you have can be fixed but a steering stabilizers or a steering brace. As unless your rebuild your truck from new the parts are getting rather old and worn. with out replacing the steering completely this is your best option.

The bast way to figure out the issues is to start at the steering box and just jiggle the parts to figure outs whats loose.

Most likely it is the linkage between the wheel and the axle. They may have rusted out and may need replacement.

One way to troubleshoot steering problems is to check the manual and see if they give you any helpful instructions. A stearing gear box also helps and fits ibto cars that have powersteering.
