Can you tell me the basic principles of the Lutheran religion?

Martin Luther was a monk who could not find inner peace until he was required to do Bible translations. Translating Romans, he found joy through realizing it is Christ , not our deeds, that saves us. So Lutherans stand on the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace and love for neighbors.

Lutheranism is a product of the reform movement that occurred during the sixteenth century. One of the most famous of reformers was Martin Luther. He wanted reform within the Roman Catholic church, but this did not occur. Lutheranism is similar to Catholicism in liturgy, minus rosary, pope, confession and saints.

The Lutheran religion is similar to other Christian religions. Basically they went against the Catholic church by believing you go to heaven by grace and not by works. They believe in baptisim and ministry is one of service. They also believe in salvation by faith alone.

The basic belief of the Lutheran church is that we are saved by God's grace through faith. It is based on what God did for us through Jesus not on what we do for God through our own efforts.
