Unless you want to waste your money, you must invest in a quality spray gun specific to your project. I would suggest watching a few videos before starting.

Use a good spray air painter (will attach to an air compressor), and you need to do lots of thin coats. If you spray it on too thick it will run and clump.

I work for an auto manufactuer. when they spray paint they spray from a few feet away. they spray very quickly just covering the area. you would also have to paint first with a primer. you would also have to spray a basecoat and a clearcoat to make it look good
