If you have a stud earring, you simple pull out the backing as you would with a normal ear piercing. If you have a loop or hoop earring, it may be more difficult, but simply hold onto the hoop and twist the ball part of the earring counter- clock wise, this may hurt, but is normal.

Take it out very slowly, but only if you are sure that you want to leave it out for good, because catilage piercings tend to grow back rather quickly.

Are you asking about the kind of rings that have a little ball holding things together? You can twist those gently sideways and the ball will flip out of the space. Do this over a towel because those things are hard to find in a carpet. Wash, let dry, go.

start by washing your hands, and hold the ring next to the ball with one hand and use your other hand to pull the ball out.

Most cartilage piercings can be removed by unscrewing or pulling off the backs. It should be easy. If you don't know how to remove it, you can ask someone who does, or go to a jewlers or piercing kiosk at a mall and get them to remove the earring for you.
