There are many reasons for lilacs to dry up. One reason could be that it is not getting enough water. Another reason that is rarely considered is that it is getting too much water. It could be getting too much sun, or not enough. Either way, when a flower dries up it is safe to assume that it is dying.

Depends. Brown dry leaves often indicate lack of water. Leaves that turn yellow then black could indicate too much water, or a fungus. Check soil around root system, is it wet or dry? These are the two most common plant problems. Neither is fatal.

A common reason tended plants dry up is over fertilization. Another possible reason could be an improper pH in the soil. If you are fertilizing stop, and if not test the soil's pH with a cheap kit you can find in any nursery or craft store. If you have possibly over-fertilized, flush the soil thoroughly with water.

It could be that the plant is going dormant for the season. If the plant is dying it could be due to disease or fungus. If the lilac plant is dead remove the plant and do not plant anything in that spot for one year. This will give time for the soil to recoup nutrients.

I think your lilac plant does not have enough water to grow or it must have been in the sunlight for a longer period.

It has either been watered too much or not watered enough. Also the plant needs peat moss and flower plant food along with fertilizing it every two weeks or so. After all this is done then the plant should start to flourish. Keep it in a part shade and part sun spot.

Well it seems that the plant is lacking nutrition in some form. The plant needs to be watered more often. Add some fertilizer and compost to the soil to help it grow.

The first thing you should check is the humidity of the earth, but if that's not the problem some lilacs require special earth check in some garden stores for the earth and some frtilize, try remplacing some earth and add fertilizing.

The reason could be attributed for the leaves dry in lilac, the severe infection of powdery mildew and it also makes the leaves dry and the shoot become disfigured and leaves turn brown.
