Can you make suggestions to a 1998 Tahoe rear a/c that the front ac works but back does not?

It is hot as can be and I have no ac.

There might be blockage in one of your rear AC valves. I would suggest dismantling the back panel located on one of your rear fans and seeing if this is true. If not, then you must have a leak in between where the AC transfers from the front to the back of the car.

For HVAC work, I would strongly suggest you take the vehicle to a trained professional (like your local Chevy dealership). Otherwise it would just cost more than it should.

Seeing that there is only one compressor, I suggest that you set the system to manual and try moving the temperature knob. If it doesn't move, look for a shorted wire to the temperature motor. Or measure the voltage at the motor to see if that would change anything.

It sounds like you have a plugged line you can have it checked out at the garage and it won't cost much at all to have that done for you.

There is a relay switch for the A/c which is cheap and will solve the problem. However Its sometimes located in hard to reach areas such as the headliner.

The front and rear A/C run from the same freon and compressor. They do have separate orifice tubes though. The orifice tube for the rear is probably clogged.
