Can you give me some advice on training mini Aussie shepherds?

I just got a pup and don't know where to start.

Miniature Australian shephards are very smart. It should only take a week or two for them to pickup on training. Start with them on a leash and work on basics like sit, stay, heel.

All dogs need to know: sit, stay, down (lie down), off (don't jump), and how to walk on a leash nicely. Additionally, spunky dogs like Aussies need a "job" to keep their minds busy. They are great agility dogs but there are many possible dog sports. Start with "sit" and "down" and investigate dog sports in your area.

Miniature Aussie Shepherds are very loyal to their masters. Thus, the best form of reward in training them is lots of praise and petting. These dogs love to please.

Start with basic learning. Get him use to a collar, not too tight. You should be able to put 2 fingers inside the collar.

clicker training works best for mini aussie shephards, every click must be along with chewing gift to show appreciation. Do not try crate training.
