Can you give me an explanation of surgery for gallstones?

My doctor cannot explain it very well at all and won't try.

The doctor will either remove your gall bladder or go in with a laser and blast the gallstones and vacuum them out with a suction hose.

If it's laparoscopic then the doctor will make several small incisions in the abdomen, and inflate the abdomen with air to see better. Lighted scope and tools will be inserted.

Over time concentrated gall can bind to each other and form little stones. Your gall bladder cannot pass them out so it's like a c-section removing out the side.

If they are doing it via laparoscopy, then there will be three small punctures where lighting, a camera, and tubes to inflate your stomach were used. And one on your belly button to remove the gallbladder. If done in the traditional method, there will be one large incision.
