Chromosomes contain DNA strands which pass along genes. DNA is the instructions, chromosomes are the parts and once the parts are put together, they are expressed on the body as genes or genetic expression.

If a chromosome were a tree, then DNA would be the wood inside that tree. Now imagine chopping the tree horizontally into large discs; these would be genes. Chromosomes are each made of a single strand of DNA, and genes are specific sections of DNA that control a particular trait.

DNA is analog of a library of cooking books. Each chromosome analog to one book. Each gene is analog to one chapter containing the instructions how to make something.

DNA (Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid) is really just information. Think of a library of genetic information. It has different sections (chromosomes). Each section has lots of books (genes), each book or collection of books contains instructions about something. All the books are made up of words (the base pairs like AT, CG).

DNA is a large protein molecule and it is the largest of the three. They hold all type of information regarding your body, example height and color. Chromosomes are single strands of DNA which contain information regarding a specific trait, such as height or color. Genes in turn are found on the chromosomes and build, control and maintain these traits.

genes are like a recipe. they tell you how to make something. DNA is like bones inside of people. it is inside of every living thing. Chromosomes are like mailmen. they both carry information.
