Can you describe the historical developments of both traditional and modern ethics?

Traditional ethics revolves around Aristotle's virtues and human purpose and Kant's idea that our actions come from duty. Modern ethics involves the idea that virtues depend on cultural or our own selves. Look to Ayn Rand or Margaret Mead as examples of modern ethicists.
