Can two different collection agencies be trying to collect on the same account?

NO, and chances are they aren't. For example, if you're getting calls or bills about a bill from a Hospital and then getting calls or bills for what you think is the same stay, it's probably for a doctor/surgeon/lab, etc. ... I would call both companies and ask what the bill is for.

It is possible. If the first agency was unsuccessful in obtaining the funds due for the account, the original creditor may have hired a second agency. Simply contact the original creditor to find out who the current collection agency is or just pay the amount due directly to the creditor.

Yes. An account can be sold, transferred, traded, or assigned any number of times, and it's common for very old accounts to be treated this way and companies to lose track of where an account has been sent. In the United States you have the right to deal with any collector, and deal only with the original creditor.

No, it is not possible to collect on the same account by two different collection agenciess. Because, initially it will be given on area wise. So for each area, there will be different collection agencies. Secondly it will on the system base to collect. And if the company is giving them any kind of offers, that can be collected.
