Can there be any adverse problems with the fetus later in life?

My son is 37 and has been exhibiting severe depression and anxiety. Nothing seems to be helping. We've tried counseling and medication. Could there be an adrenal gland malfunction stemming from the fact that I needed hormone injections throughout my pregnancy. The depression and anxiety are ruining his life.

I think that you would have seen this much earlier in his life if it were a result of the hormone injections. I would reccomend seeing a physician to rule out any physical reason for the depression. There are some great antidepression medicines on the market that have little or no side efects that his doctor could prescribe if needed.

There is a possibility that the hormone injections have contributed to his psychological issues. Hormones do have an effect on mental conditions sometimes.

There have been several recent studies on this subject that have determined even the mother's stress can lead to later conditions. Has he had a full physical and blood work-up.

Fetal symptoms can be substantially problematic for an individual later in life. If your son or daughter is depressed, however, it would be excellent not to diagnose the problem medically but to give them as much emotional and loving support as possible. This is the most important job any parent has to face.
