Yes, lower back pain can be gas. If this pain is chronic, then most likely it is not due to gas. To get rid of the lower back pain, you need to get rid of the excess gas and possibly stool that is in your intestinal tract. Eating a healthier diet should help it in a few days.

When you have gas anything can hurt almost anywhere because you start to feel bloated. To get rid of it you can take things like Gas-X. You can do things like not eating beans or any other foods that cause gas. You can also use a heating pad to help get it out.

There is a chance than an upset bowel can cause back pain. Try over the counter gas relief medicine, as well as emptying your bowels. Seek help if not better.

Lower back pain could be from the pressure of gas. It is also a sign of a bladder infection, strained back muscles, herniated disc, osteoarthritis (arthritis of the spine), kidney disease, liver disease among others. The best thing to do is to be evaluated by a physician.
