Yes, you can use compressed air, actually compressed air is better on your gun and is cheaper. It needs to be a high output tank since Tippmanns generally run on 800 psi or so. HPA tanks generally come in high and low pressure outputs .

No, paintball guns are designed to accept two types of gas propellant. The first being C02, or compressed carbon dioxide. This tends to be the more common of the two. And last, the other type is n2, or nitrogen. But, you must convert your marker to use nitrogen gas.

Yes you can.Unlike some, the Tippmann 98 will work either way without a conversion.I have one myself, and found no noticeable difference in it's performance.Make sure you have it filled by a qualified person.Do not try to do it yourself! This is something you can't go to the local gas station to fill.

yes you can, just attach the canister to the butt of the gun I would just go with CO2 though because thats what the gun is made for, compressed air will still work but CO2 is much more convenient, you can obtain it from any sporting good store or and paintball shop

You can ... if you have the correct tank (a high pressure compressed air tank), the appropriate regulator (one designed for compressed air, as opposed to CO2), and the right tubings and o-rings for your marker. Depending on which Tippmann 98 model you have, some of them are already compatible.
