Well even it is possible to repair it it would probably be a lot safer just to replace it. Older electrical components are not designed to handle modern power demands.

While it probably could be repaired, it would make much more sense to replace it for safety reasons in the home.

Yes it is possible provided you get the parts you may require to be replaced.A good electrician should be able to determine the possibility of repair and modify what original replacements that can not be obtained from the shop.
