According to their website, their minimum requirement is a high school diploma. However, they do mention that GEDs are accepted in special circumstances. This means that they are open to it if you have other qualifications that will vouch for your commitment. Talk to one of their recruiters, they can offer the best advice.

They'll accept a GED in "rare circumstances" only. However, a "whole person" evaluation is counted more strongly than any one type of test score. Your recruiter has to believe you're right for the Coast Guard, and looks for a whole host of traits. You also have to take an aptitude test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) and military medical exam.

Well, you can try and see, but in general I don't think they accept the coast guard as a GED. Try and see what happens. Good luck with your application.

Yes and no. It all depends on what the current recruiting cycle is like. During economic downturns it is a longer shot. Best, go to the recruiter and ask!

The coast guard is no longer accepting applications form people with only a GED. You can go to community college for two years and receive an AA though.

To get into the Coast Guard you must score at least a 50 on the ASVAB, this is refereed to as your Armed Forces Qualification Test score. The Coast Guard enlists less than 5% of its force with only a GED. You should try to complete some college, even an associate's degree would increase your chances of enlistment.

Getting a GED is the same as having a high school diploma so if you have achieved one and one of the requirements is a high school diploma then you can apply.
