Yes, you can. Any appraiser can give you an estimate of the value of your home, based on comparable sales in your area. However, no reputable appraiser will give you an estimate of the value of your home with the renovations complete, simply because there's no way to estimate the value of work that has not yet been performed.

You will be ok having it done if you can either tell them what it will look like when it's done or if you have pictures from before it was started and it will matter when the renovations will be done otherwise they may not do and that will comprimise your position.

You can absolutely get an appraisal. Most of a homes value is determined by other comparable sales. What matters most for an appraisal is the square footage, location, school district, etc. You may get some deductions for what you are working on, but the value shoud be reasonable.

Well, I think same. Yes you can get a home appraisal for renovating your house, because an appraiser provides a professional, unbiased opinion of market value, to be used in making real estate decisions. Appraisers present their formal analysis in appraisal reports.
