In adobe acrobat 7 and later you can insert an audio clip by going to the advanced edit menu and select the Sound tool. Draw a rectangle on the page, in the add sound window select the compatibility type, and then choose the sound file. Click embed and you're done.

You can actually embed a sound in a pdf. You would have to have a full version of adobe acrobat. Add sounds by opening advanced tool bar in acrobat and choose sound.

You cannot embed sound in pdf, because the pdf file is related to text and image documents. And this file is commonly read by Adobe reader, nitro, etc.

For this you need Acrobat Professional. In Acrobat Professional, goto Tools > Mulimedia > Soundtool and drag the cursor where you want to insert the sound. It will popup a window and browse for the sound file you want to add. Acrobat supports most of the sound files.

You can embed sound into a PDF, however you must have the full version of Adobe Acrobat(not just reader). There are full tutorials on Adobe's website of how to do this. Open the Advanced Editing Toolbar by choosing View > Toolbars > Advanced Editing. You will use this toolbar to add sounds to your PDF presentation.

Yes you can but you must first download and install the full adobe package, the reader can't do this himself. If you do have it, the tutorial covers it as it's kind of lengthy to explain how it is done here(100+ words)

You cannot add sound in PDF file format. It is just for creating documents and not for graphical purposes. You can add sound with powerpoint presentations. PDF files can be inserted to powerpoint and can add sound with it.
