If you miss payments and the credit card company sends you to collections and you still don't pay, they will take you to court and get a judgment which can lead to garnishment. You will be served with papers before the judgment can be entered and before they start garnishing.

A legal judgment is required; the creditor will file a suit against you, you will be notified and have the opportunity in court by presenting details of your financial situation that lead to the arrears. If you do not appear, a judgment will be awarded and the creditor can take your wages and sweep your bank accounts.
