AA can help a marriage in many ways, mostly because being an alcoholic is almost a sure way of ruining a marriage, so become clean and sober is vital to a healthy one.

AA has the potential to help but it's important to recognize that the spouse who is not going to AA needs help to change behavior as well. Try Al-Anon.

That depends entirely on the circumstances and the willingness of the individuals involved to get help. and what the desired outcome of attending is. It surely cannot harm a marriage as much as the presence of an alcohol problem within that marriage. It might conceivably cause harm if the person abusing alcohol is adamant that they dont want/need help

It most certainly can--as they say in the program, though, "Keep coming back. It works if you work it. " You have to put effort into the program whether you're an alcoholic or you love/care about an alcoholic. You might also want to check out Al-Anon which is for family/friends (http://www. al-anon. alateen. org).
