A torn fin doesn't mean your fish will die, but you should separate the fish from any aggressive fish that may hurt the fin further.

Yes, you fish will be able to live with a torn fin. In some species, the fin may even heal itself.

If you only have one fish it is most likely Fin Rot and not another fish attacking it. If the tail continues to look like it is being eaten away, you need to treat your fish. This will weaken the fish and a secondary infection will set in. This will kill your fish.

He will live as long as he doesn't get any infection in the fin or have to fight off others.

Look over your tank and see if you can figure out how the fish was injured, and consider the use of fish antibiotics in case this is a rot.

The fish seems to be dealing just fine, but seems like the other fish are "keeping their distance". Should I just try to trim off the dangling portion. since the gold fish are the size of a large adult human heart , it's not easy vacuuming the gravel because we have baby size mollies.
