At about four weeks old, you should begin to offer kittens solid food. From that time, separate the kittens from their mother for about 1-2 hours a day to encourage weaning. By 12 weeks at the latest, kittens should no longer be nursing.

After your kitten has fully weaned from nursing, you can give them regular adult cat food. This is usually when they are about six weeks or so old. If they aren't ready, just try again later.

Between 8-12 weeks is when kittens can begin eating regular kitten foods. Keep an eye out for normal bowel movements and you will know when they are weaned.
