This can be a symptom of an illness called strep throat. It can also be a symptom of other throat related illnesses like mono, which I had as a child.

White streaks and spots on your tonsils and the back of your throat is one of the signs of strep throat. Is your throat sore? Get a strep throat culture.

It may be also due to an bacterial infection like staphylococus. Hence these must be treated with antibiotics as soon as possible. If left out untreated then it can lead to severe painand soreness.

White streaks on tonsil are definitely suggestive of some infection. If the patient is also complaining of dysphagia, chest pain and continuous fever, it is likely to be diphtheria.
