Self tanners often contain vitamin E, a great skin moisturizer. They are a safe alternative to sun tanning and using tanning beds or booths.

Arguments can be made for and against artifical tanners. Tanning beds or applications that stimulate the production of melanin in the body should always be used sparingly and with caution.

If used properly, self tanners are not bad. overuse and overexposure or other misuses of the machine are bad. Young people need to be mindful of overuse. Whe proper care is taken, tanning beds can be quite useful. SAD (seasonal affective disorder) patients will find it quite helpful. Proper use can be self pleasing.

Self tanners are safe, especially when considering the tanning alternative. The skin is composed of dead keratinized cells and the majority of substances in these creams, lotions, and sprays are not permeable to the cells. In common terms, these substances don't pass through the body but are only topical.
