You mean Non-Disclosure Agreements? This actually depends if you have trade secrets or confidential information that you want to protect. If you do, then a non-disclosure agreement with another party is mandatory for security reasons.

NDAs or Non-Disclosure Agreements are worth it because it protects the company's intellectual and physical goods. Violating a NDA can result in very stiff penalties depending on the type of agreement and the nature of its contents. For instance large corporations can file civil suit resulting in millions of dollars of fines to a violator.

It depends -- naturally -- not so much on the quality of your NDA document but on your willingness to monitor AND then legally pursue the other party if it's necessary.
