Are loose diamonds a good, long-term investment?

Answer by  km8738 (1917)

Absolutely. They are as good of an investment as gold, as their value is not dependent on the currency value of your country. Diamonds, also, may be see an increased value if the powers that be decide to place harsher restrictions on the treatment of diamond mining labor. More expensive labor should lead to higher prices.

Yes they are if you can afford to buy in. Buy good quality diamonds and keep them in a secure place.

I wouldn't do it. Although they are valuable in all cultures, value is only as good as the economy as it's in. In order to build wealth you are much better off to get involved with IRA's and mutual funds where you can research projections and history of progress. Diamonds are not practical for this purpose.
