Are kidney stones and kidney polyps the same thing?

I heard a friend talking about 'polyps' and I wasn't quite sure what that was.

A kidney stone is a solid matter of crysalized dissolved minerals. A kidney polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue. Since a polyp is tissue and a stone is solid matter they are not the same thing.

Kidney stones are calculi made of calcium, oxalate etc. Polyps are tissue masses found in kidney quite different from stones. Polyps must be removed surgically and kidney stones can be romoved by forced diuresis, lithotripsy and if stone is very large, patient must undergo operation. Both conditions are dangerous and if untreated for long time, may lead to kidney failure.
