Cold sores are not dangerous to a pregnancy. It is an external infection that could not give the baby any viruses. Cold sores are a different type of herpes than what most people think of. There are many over the counter medications that can help with cold sores, but you should contact your doctor if you have more questions.

Cold sores will not spread to the baby during pregnancy. The pregnancy will be affected by any medications you may be taking for treatment of the cold sores. Vaginal herpes can spread to the baby during a vaginal birth. Cold sores are a concern after the baby is born and measures should be taken to prevent their spread.
