According to California law, can you leave home at age 17?

I am 17 and really want to and need to leave home.

You can under two conditions. You must prove that your home is abusive or there is a significant risk to your health. You will need to contact CPS and they will have to conduct an investigation. The second is to hire an attorney to legally divorce your parents. Either case will require you to live with a court approved adult.

No, you cannot in most circumstances. However, you can seek to be emancipated. Another option is to join the military with at least one parent's consent, which would both provide a legal way out and a job with a place to sleep.

You can leave home and enter into contracts (such as rental agreements) if you are an emancipated minor. You'll need to petition a local judge to grant your request for a Petition for Declaration of Emancipation of Minor.

I believe if you can be convicted of a crime at 17 there is no reason why you can't legally leave.
